The Big Sick is a really touching film. It's a true story that really works as a romantic comedy. All the characters were funny and given good background to know where some of the motivations were coming from in some of the more tense scenes. Every scene had funny jokes that felt natural in what was going on in the story. The second act is astonishing because it really takes that stereotypical way that you think a story like this would go and gives it an original twist.

The writing is also really well done and make the movie feel real like you are watching real (sometimes awkward) conversations. I also really appreciated how the movie ended. The third act was a little drawn out and felt like the movie didn't really know how to end, but it left some plot points open that I didn't think were flawed because that may have been how things had gone at that point in Kumal's life. I also think the cultural concepts this film touches upon were really interesting and showed how love can be more complicated than just finding someone who you think you could commit to romantically. Overall, this was a very refreshing take on the genre and is really a must watch right now.
